State Legislative Relations Committee Brown Bag

With one of the most linguistically diverse states in the country, Massachusetts must build the capacity of public-facing state agencies to meet the language access needs of an increasingly diverse population. Please join our State Legislative Relations Liaisons and Iris Eileen Coloma-Gaines from the Massachusetts Law Reform Institute (MLRI) who will be discussing the Language Access and Inclusion Act (H.3084/S.1990), which would dramatically expand the availability of non-English language resources at government agencies in Massachusetts. Iris Eileen Coloma-Gaines is MLRI’s statewide Language Access Attorney and has practiced poverty law for over 30 years in Massachusetts and Pennsylvania. Finally, our chapter liaisons will also provide some tips on how to advocate for bills locally and discuss other pending bills in Massachusetts that can impact immigrants.
